Storage Depo
Before church construction begins, it was vital to build a storage depo, because:
- The benches we currently use for church are borrowed. The depo will allow us to buy/make pews or chairs for the congregation and store them safely indoors.
- Construction materials won’t be able to “walk away” from the worksite at night.
- To house the church podium, speaker, generator, microphone, guitar, hymnals and Bibles, which up until the installation of doors were being transported to and from church each Sunday.
- The small covered porch area provides a covered spot for kid’s church activities, when necessary due to rain, until the building of the church.
- One of the two depo storage rooms will have windows (metal-barred for security), which allows for multi-purpose use- Bible studies, classes etc.
- As a bonus, it will have a flushing toilet that will greatly benefit our congregation, especially the elderly.
By God’s grace, the walls are built, the roof up, and (most recently) three doors are installed!
We still need to have a protective concrete coating called crepisage done on the walls (to strengthen them and prolong their life), install the bathroom toilet, sink and door, and add a few barred windows to allow sunlight into one of the two storage rooms.
The crepisage coating is expected to cost $1500 US dollars. We have yet to obtain a price from the plumber for the toilet/sink and installation. The metal window bars would cost approximately $350 US each, for a total of $1050 US dollars.
Can you help with that?
If so, please see our “GIVE” link above! Note- no funds given to the “Suprint Church Build fund” are being used for this structure (storage depo or apartment mentioned below). Funds donated there are reserved strictly for the actual church building, so if you want to help complete the storage depo, please donate under “Suprint Ministry”.
Apartment Build Project
We have been renting a home that’s a 40 minute drive from the community of LaRevoir and the church. With the gas shortages and price hikes in Haiti, riots, roadblocks, and flooding during monsoon rains, getting to LaRevoir is not always easy. In addition, we pass through Plaine-du-Nord, the voodoo capitol of the world, each time we head there, which is dangerous during certain weeklong voodoo festivals. We hope to build an apartment above the storage unit, where we can stay free-of-charge on the church land and be very much a part of the community we serve!
