Cilem grew up in EBAC orphanage in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. Those developmental years taught him a lot about humility, hardship, and faith in Christ Jesus. He came to know the LORD as his savior at the age of 15. By becoming a translator for mission teams, God opened his eyes to see the need for the gospel in Haiti. Luke 10: 2 “And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” God used this verse to break his heart and from that point on, he felt the call to become a pastor. Cilem graduated from Montana Bible College with a pastoral degree in Biblical studies.
I (Harley) met this amazing man at a Bible Study group at church in the US on one of Cilem’s school breaks, and we were married in September 2018. Second to accepting Jesus as my savior, marrying him was the best decision of my LIFE! We have an adventurous, people-loving two year-old boy, and another little boy on the way! I’m a stay-at-home mother, (as life in Haiti requires quite a lot of housework- hand-washing, cooking from scratch daily etc.), but a registered nurse by trade. The Lord has recently also called me to coordinating children’s ministries in our little church, which has been beyond exciting, as I watch little ones come to know more about Jesus and give their lives to Him.
We moved to the Cap-Haitian area of Haiti in 2020 (at a time when so many missionaries were leaving due to the unrest and COVID). It has been an incredible journey of watching God at work. We have started a church in the rural community of LaRevoir- a community that, prior to our arrival, had no churches and was all witch-doctor ruled. Our church is 15-20 minutes outside Plaine-du-Nord- the voodoo capitol of the world. God has placed us in the perfect place for huge gospel impact and change for Him!
Thank you for getting to know us a bit, and for partnering in prayers, giving, and encouragement on this journey.
